Established in 2007 to develop traditional book and paper crafts, Libre Livre specialises in bookbinding, letterpress printing and paper marbling.   At our workshop in Lewes, East Sussex we use traditional bookbinding skills and equipment to produce notebooks, pamphlets and albums. 

The crafts of bookbinding and printing, long established in England, significantly declined during the 20th century as book production became ever cheaper and more ephemeral.  Libre Livre seeks to combine the best modern materials with tried and trusted techniques to produce vibrant original bindings that will stand the test of time.

Marbled Paper

In addition to items made in our own workshop, during 2009 Libre Livre began to stock a selected range of stationery and craft supplies made using traditional methods by craftsmen and women from around the world.   These include marbled papers from Florence and Letterpress cards from the US, which can be bought in our workshop or by mail order

Notebook
Notebooks and Albums
Libre Livre makes a range of notebooks and albums, many based on historical models, that provide the perfect way to store your ideas and memories.  Covers fashioned from natural materials such as wood, vellum and morroco goatskin or decorative papers from around the world create vibrant refreshing bindings, works of art in themselves. All our books are sewn with the finest quality linen thread.

Stationery
Letterpress stationery produced to your own specifications is the ideal way to assert your own individuality in the modern world of mass production.   Libre Livre produces notepaper, cards, envelopes and other items to help our customers stand out as correspondents of taste and discrimination.
